A brand new day..
At least sort of.
To put it succinctly, my guy lost last night. At this point, I find myself in a bit of haze trying to reconcile my feelings of disappointment and dread of the future with feelings of young optimism. For some perspective, I probably lean to Republican thought because I believe in their core economic values(tonight is not the discussion for the current administration's economic policies). When it comes to social values, I probably lean pretty far to the left. At this point I feel this current administration is going too far to the evangelical right (Ashcroft cracking down on porn and the movement to faith based initiatives are both troubling).
Therefore, today I am going to take Jeff Jarvis' pledge which states:
I promise to... Support the President, even if I didn't vote for him..... Criticize the President, even if I did vote for him..... Uphold standards of civilized discourse in blogs and in media while pushing both to be better.... Unite as a nation, putting country over party, as we work together to make America better. In conjunction with this I am going to quote part of a great piece by Josh Marshall over at Talking Points Memo where he says:
Leave today for disappointment. Tomorrow, think over which of these various groups and organizations you think has made the best start toward what I've described above, go to their website, and give money or volunteer. So what does this mean for this blog? On the surface very few things will be likely to change. Both Jason and I are still finding our "voices" and trying to feel out those topics which we enjoy discussing. That being said, my goal is to have social discourse about some of this administration's policies, especially those policies regarding intellectual property law. While not the most exciting of topics, it is a topic that I feel I'm pretty qualified to talk about. This doesn't mean that I won't touch on other political subjects as the mood strikes me, but I'm going to merely report those subjects and let you, the reader, decide. My goal is to educate and not to compete with political blogs that do a far better job of discussing political topics than I would be able to. Therefore, I embark on my goal of trying to make a difference in this country and make honest criticisms based on facts not on personal attacks.
So with that I guess I am embarking on a brand new day.

You know, I actually had the time to follow the links in your post, and I read the entire posting by Josh What's-His-Face. It's very inspirational, and almost drives me to do something like that. I think it's an excellent call to arms for anybody upset by the election.
Josh Marshall is his name. Also, if you hold true to your commitment to get back into the game then I think that it is enough.
