Voting...

I went to the polls today at 8:15 in the morning and there were about 20 people in front me. I was in and out in probably about 20 minutes which I didn't think was too bad at all. I found it interesting that Dallas uses electronic voting for the early voting process, but uses paper for the day of the election. I have to admit I'm not sold on electronic voting. There is something mighty nice about pulling the lever or in my case filling in the little circles with a black marker. That way if something goes wrong at least someone can go back and count it.

So if you haven't voted, go do it. NOW!!!

Update: This from BOINGBOING is what I worry about.

I seem to think the last sticker I got was in the 1996 election. I enjoyed that sticker. Knowing me I probably still have it somewhere. For me today there wasn't even the final push of a buton or the pull of the lever, but merely pushing the "scantron" into the reader. Talk about anticlimatic!!1 The sticker would have made all the difference in the world just a small "free prize." Oh well, I guess the counties can't afford them and if you got them donated, who knows what advertisements they would have all over them.

I wish I voted in the 1996 election... (le sigh). The braniacs at the LC election bureau lost my voter registration in for the '96 election. But I did get to elect the next governor of NM, in '02, and I voted in 2000. No comment about this year, though...
